Completion of the Tenderfeet Renovations
Edwin and Mama Margaret just sent some photos of the new work that was done on the Tenderfeet school. They've installed electricity, bathrooms, upgraded the walls and installed plywood and also put in a kitchen. There are a few photos of the work below, and more on the Tenderfeetkids.org website. Thanks to all of you who've been helping - especially Chris Manley and the Tigers Go organization in South Carolina!

Edwin installing lights. (Electricity is his specialty!)

The new classrooms. School will start up soon.

The latrines have a fresh coat of cement applied.

Dax is currently running a sponsorship program where for $10 per month you can help out with the critical needs of educating these children. Email him for more info, or visit the Tenderfeet website.

Genocide Awareness Week Speech
On Wednesday many from the Lahash team of 06/07 were present at the local Portland Genocide Awareness event concert. Sarah Stark and her team organized a whole week of events - of which Lahash assisted one evening.

We put together a little video of one of the speeches of the evening.

Dan Holcomb giving a speech on our human history of Genocide and what we can do to stop it from happening in the future.

Mariam Motossian and her band in Concert. Mariam is Armenian and was singing about and giving some comments on the Armenian Genocide that wiped out many of her people early last century.

Visitors to the Lahash booth chatting with Nate Grubbs about his photography.

Resurrection in the Office Space
Well, we just experienced Easter as a Christian community, and we were focused on the new life that Jesus Christ experienced three days after he died, as well as his offer of new life for us humans.

This past week, Vibrant Covenant and First Covenant Churches of Portland joined together to let Lahash use some office space rent free! It will be a really nice move over the next couple of years. But - this spot needs some new life of its own before things are ready for to be the operations hub of Lahash. You can see the future space below:

So, we need some volunteers to help out with fixing this place up! It would be great to get some donated sheetrock, file cabinets, lamps, some type of flooring, paint, electrical help, and general office supplies (pens, folders, staplers, bookshelves and so on).

We also really need a new computer ($1200) for additional office staff, and $500 for software.

Thanks to all of you who've been praying for us during our office search. This spot is ideal as it is central to most of our contacts in Portland up to this point, and isn't far from where I'll be living this next year.
Saving lives by fixing Radios
Jeremiah Gitonga is one of our first HIV patients in the Eldoret, Kenya area. He and his children have been our friends for 3 years now. He is HIV positive, and his youngest daughter also tested positive for the virus. He originally had been a radio repairman, but lost his job after customers were frightened of his "slim" disease, AIDS. He has been sickly and unemployed for many years now, but always expressed a desire to return to repairing radios.

Through a recent gift sponsorship with Lahash, Gitonga is now up and running in a radio repair shop near the Lahash office. So far things are going well with the little business! Dax Mitchell is setting up more sponsorships for the Eldoret HIV community - please contact him if you'd like to play a role in saving lives by enabling radio repairs or other small businesses to open up. Visit HopeForEldoret.org for more.
Nick has been using the laptop for some video viewings in the slums as well. Many are unable to watch movies or television because of the lack of electricity and from poverty. The showings are welcome diversions in the evenings. This past Easter Nick bought a VCD of the Easter story to share with the friends there.

Tenderfeet Temporary School Repairs
Well, it's been quite a wild ride for the Tenderfeet school these past two years. They've been moving locations just about twice a year. They are now moving once more. Dax Mitchell in Texas, along with Lahash EA coordinator Edwin Angote and the Tenderfeet Founder Mama Margaret have been busy trying to renovate a rundown set of tin rooms for the school. This time around they had a lawyer help sign papers to ensure they wouldn't get booted after a short period, and they are also making improvements on the floor. The photos below show the progress so far!

Dax is working hard to ensure that the school earns $300 per month to continue providing essential schooling, feeding, and care for these kids. We still need over $200 in pledges! Please email dax@lahash.net if you'd like to get more involved with the school and the needs of the kids.

Lahash Board Meeting
We had a great meeting this past Saturday with our full expanded Lahash board. Joining us for the first time was Doug Hazen, NW director of World Venture, and Clark Blakeman, Director of Community Relations at Imago Dei Community.

Shadrack Healing
Shadrack is expected to be released from the hospital in the next day or two (April 3rd or 4th). He's feeling better every day and is no longer wearing the bandages on his head. Thank you again for your prayers and concerns.

Official Recognition as a Non-Profit
Lahash received paperwork from the IRS recognizing our organization as a non-profit. Thanks to the assistance of Erin Willett and our lawyer Marco for their help in our application. We were approved in under 2 months!
