Boys Dorm Dedication with the Browns

It was a beautiful day on Friday the 23rd of November! The Fritz Brown family along with Jose and Andrea reached Sudan in good health. The family had raised over $50,000 over the past year to construct two concrete boys dorms for our friends in Southern Sudan. I received a phone call from Edwin just the other day, although we were cut off before we could share much about what happened. But we do have several photos to share!

Fritz Brown Family Trip

During the summer of 2006, I got a phone call from Fritz Brown. He said he'd like to assist with construction in Sudan. He committed to raising the funds for this and to finding team members who would assist with the building project.

One and a half years later, Fritz and his family have left LA for Sudan. They will be reuniting with their son Caleb Brown for the dedication ceremony of the new boys dorm! Pray for the family as they arrive in Kampala today. Pray for safety as they travel by bus, boda-boda, and plane. Pray for Caleb as well - he's been a little sick the past few days.

Also in this group are Jose Nunez and Andrea Perez. Andrea will spend a month in Sudan, while Jose will focus much of his time in the Kibera slums and in assistance of Mama Margaret's Tenderfeet School.

Educating the Newcomers

Our team in Eldoret, Kenya is focused on AIDS awareness and assistance. Nick Korir, our partner in the town, has been overwhelmed in his ministry by members of the community seeking help. The stories of AIDS affecting parents, destroying families, leaving orphans behind, and contributing to poverty are rampant in this slum.

Our volunteer traveler Sven (from Germany) has been very helpful in managing cases and working with these newcomers.

LRA ask for forgiveness

"The LRA made plenty of mistakes and I ask for forgiveness for what happened to our people."
- LRA spokesman Martin Ojul From BBC

The Ugandan rebel movement (the LRA) currently has representatives in Kampala, Uganda for continued peace talks. There are some very exciting developments, including the recent quote above. Please keep praying that both sides will choose peace rather than a return to war.
